Tasked with designing a chair, I explored how it might evoke a certain emotion - joy - from the people who approach it.
Objects and environments alter the way we behave and feel, whether through small interactions or within our living space. Integrating moments of joy into our homes through furniture has the potential to boost our overall mood and quality of life.
What makes an object joyful?
Round
Leverage soft, smooth shapes that create a sense of safety.
Inviting
The chair’s form should be welcoming and encourage interaction.
Open
Include elements of negative space to create a sense of lightness and openness.
